His son George entered Kolping School in the early 1900’s where he became a “Konditor Meister” (Master Pastry Chef). He opened Cafe’ Servatii next to Servatii Chapel in Servatii Platz! This neighborhood is named after St. Servatii, an Italian Saint. His son, Wilhelm also attending Kolping School and earned his “Meister” status. After school, Wilhelm set out on an adventure that took him to Australia as a cook on a freighter, an Army cook at Ft. Knox, and finally to Cincinnati as a Pastry Chef. Servatii has received the “Hall of Fame Bakery” award by Cincinnati Magazine and “Best Decorator in the Nation” award by the Retail Bakers Association of America. And, Servatii continues to receive numerous local and national awards for their quality and standards!
